Meet the First Position Team

JENNY PULLON

Principal and Instructor

Originally from Yorkshire, England, Jenny is the owner of First Position Dance Academy.

She started her training at the Selby Dance Centre while also becoming an associate student with The Northern Ballet Theatre. At age 16, she became a full time student at The Northern Ballet School in Manchester where she was awarded with a full government scholarship. She is trained in ballet (and pointe), tap, modern, jazz, contemporary and commercial dance using the RAD, ISTD, IDTA and BBO syllabuses. In July 2018, Jenny also gained her certification to teach Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT).

After graduating from college, she took her first professional contracts dancing aboard 4 ships with Carnival Cruise Lines. For 2 of these contracts, she was selected to install brand new shows and had the opportunity to work directly with choreographers in Las Vegas. Back on land, Jenny has performed in music videos, films and many musicals including FAME (as Iris Kelly), Little Women the Musical (as Amy March) and as a featured dancer/dance captain in Hair with First Act Productions. Jenny is also a graduate of Toronto's Second City Conservatory program and often performs sketch and improv in Toronto with various troupes. In 2019 her troupe took to the stage in The Toronto Fringe Festival with the original show Friendly Fire.
After deciding to leave the dance stage, Jenny has worked creatively as a choreographer and teacher all over Toronto and the GTA. She recently won an ACTCO Thea Award for Best Choreography for Anne of Green Gables (Oshawa Little Theatre) and returned to  OLT in 2019 to choreograph Footloose. She will be teaming up with Theatre Unlimited in Mississauga to choreograph Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 2020.

She is thrilled that she is following her dream by opening up her own academy and hopes to inspire the next generation to love the stage as much as she does.

MISS SOFIA

Classroom Assistant

Hi, my name is Sofia and I have been dancing since I was 12.  My experiences in a variety of styles such as jazz, ballet, Latin, hip hop, and contemporary have been in both the competitive and non-competitive worlds of dance. Through my experiences learning from various professionals in their respective styles, I have gained a vast enough dance vocabulary to allow me to begin choreographing and, as of recently, teaching. My passion lies in creating a unique blend of movement that appeals to the eye onstage and that evokes something from the heart of an audience.

A note from FP Dance: Sofia was part of our choreography mentorship program. Student class room assistants receive one on one mentorship in either teaching, professional performance or choreography. We can't wait to see what the future has in store for her.
